Hello there! My name is Crystal Waddell, President and Owner of The Collage and Wood Shop and I am super excited to be guest blogging for Lifestyled You! I’m a collage and wooden number designer from North Carolina. I help women celebrate life by creating personalized event and home decor as well as keepsakes for little kiddos (and sporty big kids!) Today I want to share a few ideas of how you can personalize your space with custom wooden cutouts!
A quick way to make your home more reflective of YOU is to customize the wall space – but with words and letters, not just paint. Over the last few years, we’ve created a variety of custom home decor pieces that have added a bit of warm, cozy and “lived-in” feel to reflect our client’s personal style.
Here are a few ideas to get your creative juices flowing:
The concept for this wall lettering project was inspired by the queen of rustic-yet-stylish modern farmhouse decor, Joanna Gaines. I collaborated with Bethany of @blessedonbluefinch on IG to help her put the finishing touches on this gorgeous pantry.
Giant Wall Letters and Monograms
Collage and Wood giant wall letters and monograms measure can measure up to 42 inches tall. Our most common size is 36 inches by 24 inches. Our clients use them to style a large or challenging space, indoors and outdoors.

When mounting these letters outdoors, you’ll want to make sure that you seal them with an outdoor sealer. This will help your letters last through the elements.
Speaking of outdoors, our letters make AMAZING door hangers. While we can make any font, many people choose single monogram lettering like these, unfinished or distressed white:
Words, Names, and Phrases:
Finally, one of the most popular items in our shop are wooden wall names, particularly for children’s rooms. These pair beautifully with paper flowers, which you can make yourself or find on Etsy. You can also personalize your space with a verse or phrase that inspires you!
I hope you have found some inspiration to create a space that reflects you. I would love to see how you have used lettering in your own home, or hear new ideas from you!
