Guys – that time of year is coming. You know, when no matter how much you exfoliate and moisturize your face, you remain dry as the desert. Yuck! Dry weather and dry skin is my least favorite part about Fall/Winter. Patchy, flaky skin just makes your makeup look terrible and nobody wants that. Here are some of my most loved heavy-duty moisturizers that I recommend if you suffer from the dryness like me!
(In my opinion, if you have super dry skin, the only path to salvation is through a chemical exfoliant routine partnered with a great moisturizer. I’ll address these products in an upcoming blog!)
Bobbi Brown – Vitamin Enriched Face Base – $60
So this product is technically marketed as a moisturizing primer to be used in the morning prior to makeup application. It is instantly smoothing and moisturizing and helps makeup go on soooooo much better if suffering from dry skin patches. This creme is thick and luxe feeling and a great way to treat your skin before putting on makeup. It’s key moisturizing ingredient is shea butter.
Drunk Elephant – Lala Retro Whipped Cream – $60
I like to use this cream at night as it is on the heavier side, but it is meant to be used am. and/or pm. As a bonus, it is formulated to also help with brightening and anti-aging. The key to this cream is its “sodium hyaluronate crosspolymer” which helps it absorb quickly but release moisture continuously over time. This packaging is also nice because it is air and light tight which helps maintain the effectiveness of the product.
Origins – High-Potency Night-A-Mins – $45
Not only is this a nice thick night-time moisturizer, but it also includes fruit derived Alpha Hydroxy Acids which helps chemically exfoliate and turn-over skin cells. This is an amazing 2-in-1 product that attacks dry skin from both angles!
Ole Henriksen – Nurture Me Moisturizing Creme – $40
You may have read my past blog – Truth, Transform & Nurture – where I talked about my favorite products from Ole Henriksen. My love for this product runs deep, lol. It is the best smelling creme I own! Besides smelling amazing, it is a great moisturizer for am. or pm. It is a medium weight creme that sort of bridges the gap between a light weight and super heavy duty moisturizer. It contains sunflower and rosehip fruit oils that go in hard to soothe redness in the skin as well as moisturize.
Fresh – Black Tea Age-Delay Cream – $90
If you are looking to splurge a bit but get something that REALLY works, this baby is for you! This is one of the most effective overnight moisturizers I’ve ever used. I only use it at night and when the dryness is at its peak. A little goes a long way and I have honestly never used a creme that made more of a difference waking up the next morning. Amazing!!!!
~ Takeaway ~ The dry weather is here and we need to take care of our skin! Help inject some long-lasting moisture into your face with any of these products. These are my absolute favorites when it comes to rescuing my dry patchy skin in the Fall and Winter, and I hope they help save your skin too!
